Greatness

"This world has defined greatness to include achievements in either physical beauty or strength, or achievements in intellectualendeavors. what grieves God is that this same measuring stickis alsobeing used inthe church. Many Christian parents would be more proud of their children if they became famous in this world, or made a lot of money, than if they surrendered their lives to serve God."

Be A Follower

"The decision to follow Jesus is never made as a group.
It always starts with one, then a handful.
Each disciple chose individually to answer the call of Christ."

What About Your Legacy?

I recently read a book my sister let me read after she was done with it. Gotta love those teacher cards from the library- six weeks- no rush.

Anyway, the book was an autobiography on Tim Tebow-

the football player for the Denver Broncos

with a Testimony for God.

(I'll admit, when I saw that game where he

knelt in prayer after a good run, I was a

bit sceptical- another one of those sports people

who says they are a Christian...)

But this was different.

It was a good book,

o.k. i had to wade through all the football language

which I know nothing about.

But his testimony was great. So I leave you with

a quote from his book of the legacy you leave behind.

“...But a legacy that left eternal fingerprints on the lives of others would be a legacy to be remembered in this world and the next. The legacy God intended each of us to leave has to do with the impact our lives have had on the lives of others He calls us to serve. It has to do with the difference our lives make in the world- in our families, with friends, at work, at school, with our coaches and teammates, and all those others around us. Our legacy should be about building in the lives of all those others, doing something for others

that will not only last in their lives here, but for eternity.”

p. 206 of Through My Eyes by Tim Tebow and Nathan Whitaker.

This Year

“In His wisdom God does not show us all that lies ahead. So we enter a new year to live it day by day. What is past is past…we start anew, and what we do today will make our life for tomorrow. …each day let us follow more faithfully, more courageously, more daringly the lead of our great Captain who bids us follow Him. “

William Thomson Hanzsche

“Home should be…a place of happiness and joy, laughter and rejoicing. A place to bring friends without the feeling of embarrassment. A place where someone will listen, share, love and understand. A place of quietness, yet a place of life and activity. A haven from a cruel world. A place where they want to be and stay.”

True Beauty

“We live in a world that has trained us to see nothing but our flaws. The first thing we see in the mirror is the volcano-sized pimples, crooked noses, and Dumbo ears. But when God looks at us He sees perfection - not because He sees us as we are, but because He sees us for who we can be in light of His love for us. His love makes us elegant. His love makes us beautiful. His love gives us purpose and reveals to us who we truly are.”

"Each day we must live in constant communication (with God):

that is performing all our outward service

our inward self on it's knees (in humbleness)."

Our America

"The more profoundly we study this wonderful book (the Bible) and the more closely we observe it's divine precepts, the better citizens we will become and the higher will be our destiny as a nation."
President William McKinley
"Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord"
May America get back to the Lord before it's too late. May the Bible be our law and the Lord, our Guide.

A Quote to Think About

I was reading a book the other day, Christy, by Catherine Marshall, and though it is fictional there was a part in it that I thought, "Wow! That is so true in our Christian lives. So will post it.

"What do you do when strength is called for and you have no strength? You evoke a power beyond your own (Christ's power in us) and use stamina you did not know you had. You open your eyes in the morning grateful that you can see the sunlight of yet another day. You draw yourself to the edge of the bed and them put one foot in front of the other-and keep going. You weep with those who gently close the eyes of the dead, and somehow, from the salt of your tears, comes endurance for them and for you. You pour out that resurgence to minister to the living." (p.477)
I thought it was neat how God can use anything to teach us a lesson. Sometimes we "know" we can't go on anymore, we just "can't" do it. But we are wrong in one sense, We cannot do it but God can through us. "I can do all things through Christ, which strengtheneth me." Phil.4:13
Then when we actually do it and we look back, we know the only way we got through that trial was with the Lord's help. I just thought it was neat.

A Quote To Think On

"Life is wasted if we do not grasp the glory of the cross, cherish it for the treasure that it is and cleave to it as the highest price of every pleasure and the deepest comfort in every pain."
~John Piper ~
